Understanding Alternative Investment Management

When it comes to a firm dealing in alternative investment management, it is focusing on making investments for products that do not comprise the traditional areas such as stocks and bonds.   So for example, an alternative investment management firm will be investing in areas of fineries such as specialized wines, stamps, antiques, etc., or other commodities.  Sometimes the term can be used to describe private equity or hedge funds.  The firm will probably be working for high net worth individuals and this is who Quadrant Management, Inc. works for, where Alan Quasha is President.
