New Head Injury Rules for Youth Football

December 7, 2010

The Brain Trauma Foundation (BTF), chaired by Alan Quasha, strives to increase awareness of head injuries, an understanding of how to prevent them, and the importance of ensuring proper treatment when such injuries do occur.

The BTF is now publicizing a major achievement for head injury awareness in the area of youth sports, with a media report that Pop Warner, the oldest and largest youth football organization in the U.S., has announced a new requirement: Any player who has suffered a head injury will be permitted back on the field only after submitting a physician’s note. Pop Warner has also created a national medical advisory board to guide the organization in safeguarding the health of its members.
